;D Well, since I have now installed and taken a run at Oblivion (and I'm a screenshot addict), I had another one of my crazy ideas and thought about starting a screenie thread... here. I'm not going to bother much with the TESF OB forum for a while. Soooo,... here are two (yes, two) characters that I've started already. Horus, Altmer battlemage, and carry over from a MW char that I did little with. Geneva, Breton spellblade (spellsword using light armor), once companion to my fav MW char. The faces aren't that great, and I can't get a mod that adds more eye colors to work.

Broken noses, squished eyes and necks, hands and feet that don't match their body. Not to mention some weird coloring on their faces and the feeling that they shipped the game before it was totally finished. I guess they're expecting the modders to do that. In which case, we're going to need a lot more tools that what we already have available

That is partly why all female faces look crap, and elven faces don't exist EDIT: Well, I don't quite mean that. what I mean is I haven't seen a female face that looks in my veiw like it is an elf

Maybe the way the modding community stepped up to the plate with Better Bodies and all the great face/head/hair improvements made Bethesda get lazy in that respect.
Or, maybe they were gearing themselves too much towards "the masses" or "the average Xbox player", who is playing more for the killing and the quests than for the looks. Maybe they assume that people who are REALLY into are going to get the PC version, and going to get involved with the modding community, and thus those folks can tool around with the aesthetics all they want.
Does that make sense? Or am I being blind and stupid again?
Sometimes I can't tell. I really don't know as much about the industry as a lot of other people do.

Yeah lets do screenies. Good plan. To be honest, FaceGen isn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Takes patience to tweak successfully and its a pregnant dog if you try to correct a mistake but I reckon a decent face is only an hour away ;D So say hello to Niamh after her Oblivionisation. It aint exactly right but I need more practise with FG first. She doesn't look too bad though I don't reckon. Niamh's new faceTaking in the beauty of the new worldScowling at the fallen in the ArenaNormal mapping is so cool. I really really hope we get an exporter to play with at some point. Heh heh heh..... Edit - Gren, hi there. I don't know or care much about the industry either. I think its a simple case of Bethsoft attempting to balance out trying to please the super realists (NO attractive people please - its not realistic) and trying to please the aesthetits (ugh - its a fantasy game... gimme beauty). Give me six months to beat the main quest and I'll start giving the ugly swines a makeover too. I found one guy with an enormous pumkin head and a tiny face. Random? Or the devs pissing themselves "They'll love this one"

I think that Bethesda has no idea what Beauty really is. I've only played the four Elder Scrolls games (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind and now Oblivion) and they've yet to put together attractive people  Now I know everyone's concept of beauty is different, but when everyone agrees that it's all ugly, then there's something wrong. Here's the best I was able to do: i2.photobucket.com/albums/y43/Lady_Rae/ScreenShot16.jpgAnd here is someone that Bethesda did that I think actually looks decent: i2.photobucket.com/albums/y43/Lady_Rae/ScreenShot18.jpg

That's pretty good. I kinda like the face generator, at least the idea of it. I'm dissapointed there aren't more hair styles.

Here's a few more - possible vamp spoilers Here's my Lady heading out adventuring. She has a permanent bad hair day and perfers the chain helmet to her own hair. She just became a vampire. For some reason, becoming a vampire makes the face fatter and more masculine looking.A few days without eating and it begins to showAt this point everyone knows I'm a vampire (or Vampyre as Andrew would say ). I've gotta charm the merchants in order to buy and sell from them, and I can only do so once a day.I finally gave in and had a little bit of blood from a sleeping guild member. Now the merchants will talk to me and I can tolerate the sun a little better.I FINALLY got myself cured. There may be no FedEx type of quests, but there sure are a lot of running around looking for the randomly placed rare item type of quests. One hint - when you are cured of vampirism, don't sweat the ugly face you get - mine looked pretty much exactly like the first vampire face except a little more color and my brown eyes back. But a save and load took care of that and I had my 'pretty' face back. (Well, at any rate, as pretty as I can manage ) Here's a guy I found running (literally running) around the country side. He stood still long enough for a short chat and then he was off again.Just thought this was neat. When you cast restore it turns the armor to a negative color. Once I figure out how to use NifSkope I just might have to make a set like that. It's really nice looking, especially in Oblivion Finally, I'm an offical Mage. After showing these items to the person who required I get them, I immediately put them into storage and have gone back to my chain armor. (Best looking female armor in the game - in my (never) humble opinion. Although to be fair, I've yet to check out the steel armor )That's all for now. Enjoy.

This is my main character, Asgianot. It took quite a few sessions of showracemenu, but I'm quite satisfied with how he turned out.
