Last week my car started acting funny and didn't run right. So yesterday I borrowed my mom's car and she was supposed to take mine to a local guy to have it looked at. Well, it wouldn't start for my mom and he said that he'd come by and check it. He didn't. Today I had to borrow my mom's car again and he still didn't stop by that I know of. Now my mom's oldest (living) sister is, ... well, I really don't know how she is, but it isn't too good. So my mom has rushed off to go see her, and I have no idea what might happen or when she'll get back. So now I'll have to borrow my mom's old car, a 1965 Mustang that she's owned since new. It's a nice car, but still needs some front suspension work. I'm almost afraid to drive it because she had it repainted a few years ago and it looks like new. So let's see, my car f's up, my aunt is in unknown condition, and oh, I don't know when I'll get any time off during the next two weeks. I need to look for a new(er) car, and I don't know when I can look for one or if I can find something that I like and fits my needs quickly. I have another car, but it's been a slow going project. It needs a new transmission and better mufflers for a start (the previous owner must have liked loud cars, it can be heard across town when I start it). Of course I also need to get insurance and new tags before I can legally drive it.

Its another stunt by my very good friend, Irony. I know him well, the sly bugger. You can never tell when he'll leap into action but you can guarantee it'll be at several places and from several angels at once... Best of luck getting it sorted... my car never recovered and is now rotting away behind the house with a hole in the boot (trunk - USA ;D ) and no wheels (kids ) Two years ago it was immaculate - rebuilt engine, new gearbox and clutch, new tyres, new brakes, new springs and shocks... a Ford Sierra XR4x4 with a tuned 2.8i V6... sweet. The most expensive pile of junk I've ever owned. Hope you don't end up there thanks to the wily playings of Irony and his mates.

What does the car sound like, can you describe it's symptoms? I've driven POS cars for most of my driving life, so I've gotten rather good at diagnosing problems just from hearing them, it could actually be something simple. -Slayer

Either that or like it has a major vacuum leak. Idle is rough and irregular, it also has no power under acceleration. I'm not sure of the timing since it's a four cylinder with a firmly bolted down distributer. Now if it is just a vacuum leak, that could take a while to track down. The engine in question is a 1.6 litre four cylinder Nissan with almost 230 thousand miles on it. From what I've heard, they weren't expected to last half as long as it has. I haven't heard anything about my aunt yet, so I still don't know what's going on with her. She's 74 and had bypass surgery a few years ago, but after it was done the doctors told her that they didn't do as good of a job as they thought they did, but they decided that going in again would do more harm than good. A few months ago they put her on oxygen, and she has to be on it all the time. So she's not in the best of shape. Oh, and VA, I do know some Brit slang, like bonnet and boot.

You might also want to check on the rotor in the distributor cap, it's not unheard of for them to crack and/or break. -Slayer

Well, the guy finally came and took a look at my car. He told me that he had been sick last week with whatever it is that's going around now. Anyways, the problem? Well the spark plugs were wore out apparantly for starters (although I thought that it wasn't that long ago that I replaced them) and the big problem was one of the injectors, it quit working. Expensive bugger too, more than I thought it would be for a four cylinder econo-box. I'm still planning on getting a new(er) car in a couple months, but I'm not sure what yet.
As for my aunt, I don't know what happened. My mom came back, and the only thing she said about going there was that she was tired because she tried to sleep on the floor. I guess that that I should just be thankfull that she's still hanging on.

Well less than a week after it was fixed, it quit working again. However, I got myself another car over the weekend; a 2000 Olds Alero. Pretty nice, I must say. Now why is this frustrating? Getting insurance. It's going to be a bit more expensive than I thought it would. I really don't understand why it cost so much.
